Sossego Waterfall

Sossego Waterfall

Sossego Waterfall is the highest waterfall in the Ribeirão river. The trail of 7 km from Lençóis is normally done in two hours and a half. The first third of the Sossego Waterfall hike to the Ribeirão river, is light. The second part, walking parallel to the river, is moderate. In the last part we jump from rock to rock in the river between canyons to reach the impressive Sossego waterfall and its deep pool. This last part is the hardest and requires good stamina.Sossego Waterfall has around 30 meters high in the last fall, and forms a great pool that we have to cross to get under the waterfall. In the way back we have more natural pool bath and can slide down in the Ribeirão do Meio, which is the favoriteplace  of Lençóis residents to relax and swim. From Ribeirão do Meio we walk up 3 km in about 1 hour to return to Lençóis. In the way to Sossego Waterfall we can view old “Toca de Garimpeiros” (old Miners house) place used by miners as a shelter while they were digging for diamonds. In a certain point in the trail we can see a nice one across the river with a good angle. We also pass by others on the way that are already collapsing from the effects of weather.

Obs.: All routes can be adapted or changed without warning because of weather conditions, which can affect acess roads, or difficult of somebody from the group.
